Even more spectacular in person, I did not think it turned out too badly, given the low tech level of my camera, combined with the slow exposure and lack of tripod!

Jupiter and Luna

Yep. The big one with the halo is the Moon, the smaller one is Jupiter. The camera did not capture the distinctive reddish aura of it which was discernable with the naked eye.

I did use a window sill to help steady my camera. It was funny. With F/2.8, depressing the shutter release made the camera go "cahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhlick." I suppose all those years of target practice have helped steady my hands: it seemed like an eternity waiting for that iris to close!
